Luciano Pavarotti was without doubt one of the greatest tenors of the 20th century. From his operatic debut in 1961 until shortly before his death in 2007 he was performing at the highest level in both operatic and popular music and was famed for the brilliance and beauty of his tone. This superb programme was filmed during the performance of the great Pavarotti in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother at the Royal Albert Hall on the 13th April 1982 as part of a Royal Gala Concert in aid of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra National Appeal. Pavarotti is performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Kurt Herbert Adler. The concert was originally filmed by the BBC and sees Pavarotti performing a selection of his favourite and best loved arias.
